Leaf Disposal

Since 2020, Texas Township has partnered with Kalamazoo Landscape Supplies (KLS) to offer leaf disposal during a specified drop-off period. During the drop-off period, residents can take their clean leaves and yard waste to KLS for composting. To take advantage of this service, residents must identify themselves as Texas Township residents. 

The Township will subsidize the cost of disposal up to 10 cubic yards per household at no charge. If you have more than 10 cubic yards of material to dispose of, KLS will still accept the material, but you will be charged their standard rate of disposal for anything in excess of 10 cubic yards. KLS' 2025 disposal rate is $13/cubic yard. Communities that coordinate disposal through a single contractor are permitted 10 cubic yards per household in the development - approved addresses are on file with KLS.

KLS does offer yard waste disposal year-round for a fee. Please contact them directly for more information about drop-off times and disposal rates outside of the drop-off period. 

Yard Waste Requirements

• Leaves must be clean and free of soil and debris to be accepted
• KLS accepts bagged and non-bagged leaves - if using bags, we recommend recyclable bags
• KLS also accepts grass clippings and tree branches up to 5' long and no more than 12" in diameter

When dropping off yard waste, please check in at the KLS office prior to unloading.

We appreciate KLS' partnership in this service and want to ensure things continue to run smoothly for their operation. 

Standard mulch bags typically hold 2 cubic feet each.  To fill a cubic yard, you need approximately 13.5 bags of mulch.  Always verify bag size as some may range from 1 to 3 cubic feet.
