On February 15, 2023, the Texas Township Board of Trustees unanimously approved a three-year contract with Erik J. Wilson to serve as the next Township Superintendent. Mr. Wilson has served as City Manager at the City of Plainwell for the past twenty years and brings a breadth of knowledge and experience to the role. He holds a master’s degree in public administration from Eastern Michigan University and has a proven track record in public service.
The recruitment process was led by Walsh Municipal Services, who was hired last November. The Township received eighteen applications from a variety of qualified and talented individuals, many currently serving in municipal management positions throughout the state.
The Township identified four finalists and interviews were held on January 30, 2023. During the interviews, it was apparent that Wilson was the top contender for the position. His managerial style and approach aligned with what the Board is seeking in a Superintendent, and his experience lends itself to the major projects the Township is currently managing – and those they hope to accomplish over the next several years.
“Erik distinguished himself among a field of talented candidates. I am confident that he is the right person to lead Texas Township and help us navigate the opportunities and challenges that lie before us,” said Supervisor Nick Loeks. “His knowledge of West Michigan is advantageous, and he values building connections in the community and working to provide exceptional service. I look forward to his contributions to our community.”
“I am both humbled and excited to be selected as Texas Township's next Superintendent. I look forward to joining a phenomenal team and building upon the accomplishments that make Texas Township exceptional,” stated Wilson. He will start in the role on Monday, March 20.
