Fire Department
Staffing
The Texas Township Fire Department consists of five full-time staff and a dedicated group of paid-on-call firefighters. The Department services all 36 square miles of Texas Township and provides support to surrounding communities. Their services include EMS, fire, hazardous materials, brush and grass fires, ice/water rescue, vehicular accidents, fire prevention, and public education.
Facility
Texas Township has one fire station which is located near Texas Corners, at 8th Street and Q Avenue. All apparatus, equipment, and staffing is accommodated at this facility, which is adjacent to the Township Hall. The Fire Department has undergone two expansions, the first in 1996, where the Fire Department expanded into an existing portion of the Township Hall, creating a shared space for training and educational purposes.
The second expansion occurred in 2010 when the voters of Texas Township passed a millage request of 0.5 mills to support staffing the fire station 24 hours per day. A portion of the money raised was designated to add a "crews quarters" to the existing building; this addition was completed in late 2011. The addition included a locker room, ready room, fitness area, an updated communications center, and overnight accommodations.

- When I call 911 for a medical emergency, why does the Fire Department show up?
- Can I burn leaves, brush, or other yard waste on my property?
- Why do I sometimes see an emergency vehicle go through an intersection with lights and sirens on, and then, after they go through, turn them off and slow down?
